Privacy Policy
Last updated September 27, 2026
This policy describes how Timelapse Tool (“we”) handles information when you use the website at timelapsetool.app and the Timelapse Tool iPhone app. Timelapse Tool is a planning calculator. It does not shoot the timelapse. If you choose to, the iPhone app can attach photos you pick or take to a saved setup.
Who we are
Questions about this policy or your information: [email protected].
Information you give us
You can use the planner without an account. Signing in is optional and is available in the iPhone app only. If you sign in, we receive the account details the provider shares:
- Apple. A name and email address if you choose to share them. Apple may provide a private relay address instead of your real email.
- Google. Your name, email address, and the Google account identifier used to sign in.
If you email support, we receive the address you write from and the contents of the message.
Plans you save
On iPhone, saved plans stay on the device (up to 50). A plan is calculator data: an optional name, shot interval, event duration, clip length, frame count, playback frames per second, an estimated still size, which value you solved for, and timestamps.
If you are signed in, you can also attach up to 10 photos to a setup as a location preview. You can take a new photo with the camera or choose one from your photo library. Those photos are stored on the device and in Google Cloud Storage under your account, next to the plan in Cloud Firestore. Photos are not used for advertising. Deleting a setup deletes its photos. Delete account in Settings removes the stored plans, the photos, and the Firebase account from the cloud and from this device. There is no separate action that deletes only the cloud backup.
Deleting a plan records a deletion marker so the same plan is not restored from another copy.
The web planner calculates in your browser. It does not send what you type to our servers and it does not keep a history.
Purchases
Remove Ads is a one-time purchase processed by Apple through StoreKit. Apple handles payment. We receive whether the purchase is active for that Apple ID on this device. We do not receive your card number, and we do not copy that entitlement onto your cloud account. Restore Purchases is in Settings.
Advertising
The free iPhone app shows Google AdMob banner ads and an interstitial after you close results. Buying Remove Ads turns those ads off on that device.
Before the first ad request, the app shows Google’s consent form where that form is required, including in the EEA, the UK, and Switzerland. Ads and Firebase Analytics stay off until that form allows ads. Where Apple requires it, the app also shows the App Tracking Transparency prompt before ads use the device’s advertising identifier (IDFA). If you decline, ads can still appear without that identifier. Settings includes Ad privacy when Google requires a way to change that choice.
The web planner page shows Google AdSense ads. The home page, the support page, and the legal pages do not. The planner loads Google’s consent message and does not request ads until that message allows them. AdSense and AdMob may use cookies, similar identifiers, and device data to measure and deliver ads under Google’s privacy policy. You can control personalized ads in your device settings and at Google’s ad settings.
We do not sell personal information. Ad partners may use identifiers for cross-context advertising, which some laws call “sharing.” You can opt out of that sharing in Google’s ad settings and, on iPhone, by declining the tracking prompt.
Analytics and sign-in infrastructure
The iPhone app uses Firebase. Firebase Authentication stores the account used to sign in. Firebase Analytics collects app usage such as app opens, device model, operating system version, and an app instance identifier, and only after the ad consent step allows ads. Firebase Crashlytics collects crash stack traces, device model, operating system version, and app version so we can fix crashes. If you are signed in, a crash report also includes your Firebase user id. We do not use that data to build a profile of your shoots.
How we use information
- Provide the calculator, saved plans, and optional cloud backup.
- Authenticate you and keep your plans tied to your account.
- Show ads in the free app and on the web planner, and honor Remove Ads.
- Understand whether the app is opening and which version is in use.
- Diagnose crashes.
- Reply to support requests.
We do not sell your personal information.
Who we share it with
We use service providers to run the product:
- Google Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Cloud Storage, Analytics, and Crashlytics) and Google Sign-In.
- Apple, for Sign in with Apple and in-app purchase.
- Google AdMob in the iPhone app and Google AdSense on the web planner.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it or to protect the service and its users.
How long we keep it
Plans and any photos attached to them stay on the device until you delete the setup or remove the app. Cloud plans, their photos, and the account profile remain until you use Delete account or ask us to delete them. Analytics follows Google’s retention for Firebase Analytics. Crash reports follow Google’s retention for Firebase Crashlytics. Support email is kept long enough to resolve the request.
Cookies on the website
The home page, the support page, and the legal pages do not set advertising cookies. The web planner may set cookies or similar storage through Google AdSense after you allow ads. The planner itself does not use cookies to remember your calculations.
Your choices
- Use the planner without signing in. Plans then stay on the device.
- Sign out at any time. Signing out does not delete cloud plans. If this device still has account changes that have not reached the cloud, sign-out waits so those changes are not discarded.
- Delete account in Settings removes the cloud plans, the photos, and the Firebase account. There is no separate “delete the cloud backup” action.
- Email [email protected] to ask for a copy, a correction, or deletion of the account data we hold.
- Decline the iPhone tracking prompt, or open Ad privacy in Settings when it is offered, to limit how ads use the advertising identifier. Remove Ads stops AdMob units in the app.
- On the web planner, use Google’s consent message where it is shown, and use Google’s ad settings to opt out of sale or sharing of personal information for cross-context advertising.
Children
Timelapse Tool is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us an account, email us and we will delete it.
International transfers
Firebase, Google ads, and Apple process data on servers that may be outside your country, including in the United States. Those providers handle the transfer under their own terms.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the website or the app after the new date means you accept the updated policy.
